Large southern concession
The Jock Lodge occupies a prized 6,000 hectare concession of prime south Kruger, with a pair of lodges (Main and Fitzpatrick’s) for families and groups. They are situated at the confluence of the two large seasonal Biyamiti and Mitomeni rivers.
Big Five on river roads
The concession, used exclusively, offers excellent Big Five viewing. Jock has different traversing rights to other concessionaires elsewhere in the Park, allowing guides to drive along riverbeds, increasing the opportunities for sightings.
Jock is a hotspot for lion activity with ongoing battles between competing prides for supremacy in the area, driven partly by an influx of game to the water here after the 2016 drought.
Rock art on foot
Unique to this concession is some of the oldest known (3,000 year-old) bushman rock art in Africa. It is accessible by an excellent walking safari if you ask to see it. Going out on foot is encouraged, after a hearty breakfast, when the diversity of fauna and flora really comes to life.
Main Lodge suites
Main Lodge offers twelve individual thatched, suite-quality rooms. Carefully screened by lush trees and reed walls, they impart a sense of closeness to the landscape.
All rooms have a private plunge pool overlooking the river. They are air-conditioned and en-suite with an outdoor shower, and offer minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe, hairdryer and phone.
Each room at Main Lodge has its own sala. A thatched area with day bed, you can choose to sleep out in the fresh air and enjoy the riverside view when you wake.
Fitzpatrick’s Lodge is similarly luxurious with shared spaces including a huge open plan living and dining area. Personal service is offered in an intimate atmosphere to small groups and families.
Sleeps up to ten
There are three twin/double bedded rooms, generous in size, of which two can sleep two children in addition to two adults.
Spa & relaxation
A gym looks out into the bush. The Relaxation Retreat offers a steam room, sauna and hydrotherapy bath.
