The concession, used exclusively, offers excellent Big Five viewing. Jock has different traversing rights to other concessionaires elsewhere in the Park, allowing guides to drive along riverbeds, increasing the opportunities for sightings.

Lions

Jock is a hotspot for lion activity with ongoing battles between competing prides for supremacy in the area, driven partly by an influx of game to the water here after the 2016 drought.

Walking at Jock Safari Lodge

Rock art on foot

Unique to this concession is some of the oldest known (3,000 year-old) bushman rock art in Africa. It is accessible by an excellent walking safari if you ask to see it. Going out on foot is encouraged, after a hearty breakfast, when the diversity of fauna and flora really comes to life.
