Lukimbi

Elephants at Lukimbi pool

Fantastic concession

Lukimbi occupies an excellent, accessible private Kruger concession in the south-east of the Park. It is one of the rare places in the south where vehicles are few. Guides and trackers are excellent and keep the sightings as frequent as elsewhere.

Three river system

Bounded by three major river systems, Lukimbi’s exclusive, extensive 15,000 hectare area offers varied habitats and excellent game. Vast grasslands dominate the northern portion. The southern and central areas are heavily wooded and interspersed with lush riverine thickets.

Great lodge views

Lukimbi is on the bank of the Lwakahle river, offering wide open views. The lodge is well spread out and you will need escorting back to your suite at night as the river margin is excellent game territory.

Lounge at Lukimbi

Elegant decor

Lukimbi is elegantly decorated, featuring carved plaster panels showing intricate mystical creatures and African patterns. The designer interior combines colour with specially commissioned art and craftwork. There is something to look at round every corner.

Main area

The main buildings are linked together by open wooden decks, making the most of the view as the lodge meanders along the riverbank. A raised walkway gives access to your suite.

Safari suites

Sixteen large suites have high windows bringing the sky and the trees right inside. The lounge drops down from the bedroom, opening out to a covered deck – a comfortable area to sip a drink, watch the passing animals and birds, and relax.

Lukimbi bathroom

Creature comforts

The bathrooms are large and look directly onto the bush. Each suite has a spacious free-standing bathtub, indoor and outdoor shower and separate toilet. All suites have air-conditioning, fan, safe, gauze, mosquito nets, tea/coffee facilities and a mini bar.

Lukimbi Premier Suite

Premier suites

Two additional “Premier” suites on the eastern ‘Elephant’ side of the lodge have private plunge pools and second bathrooms on top.

Walking trail at Lukimbi

Wagon & Lwakahle trails

In addition to the usual morning bush walks, full day walking trails (Wagon or Lwakahle) are available seasonally. There is a minimum number for each Trail to run, and a maximum of eight participants. Trails must be requested at the time of reservation and there is usually a modest additional charge.
