Grown-up self-catering
Vuyatela is a curious thing, an opulent private lodge with self-catering. You bring the groceries. The lodge provides an experienced chef and commercial grade kitchen. “Vuyatela” means “come and visit again”. Many do, particularly for its excellent value.

Comfort & colour
It is a striking and luxurious place, a celebration of modern South Africa in all its intricate glory with an extensive collection of contemporary African artwork. High-design furnishings sit comfortably alongside traditional mosaics and wall murals painted by local Shangaan villagers.

Big Five
Big Five viewing is excellent. The area, Djuma, offers over 7,000 hectares of exclusive traversing and borders the western unfenced boundary of the Kruger.

Private vehicle & guide
A ranger and vehicle are at your disposal for morning and evening drives. Traversing takes you in to Buffelshoek in the north, shared with one other lodge. Unhurried sightings result from a low vehicle count.

Morning safari walks
You may also undertake morning safari walks into the surrounding Big Five bush with your armed guide and tracker.

Active dam waterhole
At the lodge, the main building opens onto extended decks overlooking a massive watering hole, where you can often catch herds of elephant enjoying a mud bath. Fall asleep to the grunting of the resident herd of hippo.

Look-out tower
Vuyatela has a look-out, designed as a suspended bird-watching tower, with excellent views over the dam.

Large suites
Each of five suites at Vuyatela are designed as traditional African kayas. A private lounge is separated from the bedroom by an expansive teak deck. Glass doors open the bedroom to the view where, if you’re lucky, you might catch a leopard stealing a drink of water.

Four posters
Four-poster king-size beds dominate the airy bedrooms with spa baths and outdoor showers.

Creature comforts
A gym and relaxation room are just a few steps away. A library featuring wireless internet and a wide collection of reference books and websites is available for you to learn more about your surroundings.
