POPULAR CAMP FOR LIONS
Satara is a large, busy camp (around 450 beds + camping). Pleasant whilst not being much to look at, its location is its draw. It has a reputation for good big-cat sightings, with lion, leopard and cheetah recorded regularly. It is the second largest camp with six large circles of rondavels.

OPEN PLAINS & BUSH
The outstanding game viewing area benefits from relatively open bush and flat surrounding plains, enabling you to see things from further away. Animals are plentiful and diverse.

S100 N'WANETSI ROAD
There are no natural water sources at camp. The S100 N’wanetsi river road running to the east following the water is known for rich sightings. The Mountain Pride of 30+ lions frequent this area and the nearby Singita concession.

NIGHT DRIVES
Night drives from here are something else. From the back of your SANParks converted lorry, you often see prides of lion basking on the still-warm tarmac roads prior to hunting. It is not unusual to encounter them mating.

SHADED STOEP
Satara is relatively accessible from the southern gates of the Kruger. The camp itself has a basic charm with an oval shaped central building partly surrounded by woods. The bird-life is prolific in camp.

GOOD FACILITIES
Facilities are appropriate to those of a larger restcamp. There is a good restaurant, a separate cafeteria, and a well-stocked shop. Phones, a laundromat and a petrol station are here.

JUNGLE GYM; POOLS
There is a jungle gym for kids, an eco-information centre, and a large auditorium showing wildlife films in the evening. There are small twin swimming pools.

Satara offers main camp accommodation – 2/3 bed rondavels with or without kitchenettes, some with showers and some with baths.

GUEST HOUSES
Guest Cottages house 5 or 6 people with an en-suite bathroom and a separate room with shower, toilet and washbasin. These have living/dining rooms with TV, and kitchens including gas stoves and an oven. Sponsored Wells Cottage sleeps 6, Stanley Cottage sleeps 9, and Frankel Cottage 10 people.

CAMPING & CARAVANS
There are no Safari Tents here at present, but camping and caravan sites are available for a maxiumum of five people per site.
