Sabi Sand West

The western sector of Sabi Sand contains six lodge groupings that pool land. Sightings may be shared but are limited to 3 vehicles at any time. This area includes characteristic koppies which are an extension of the Lebombo mountains’ geology. Ulusaba is built on one with spectacular views. The Sand river runs through that property. Dulini and Inyati also have river frontages and first call on sightings there.

Fly-ins are to airstrips at Ulusaba. Transfers take at least 2 hours from Nelspruit, depending on lodge.

If you are self-driving, access is through the Newington gate. The last 12km of sand roads are north of the road east of Hazyview (48km), and Phabeni gate (40km), and west of Kruger gate (20km) and Skukuza (33km). Nelspruit is 113km (allow 2 hours) from the gate. Remember to allow time to get to your lodge from the gate (Ulusaba, for example, is 17km further, for which you should allow at least an hour).

The ultra-exclusive lodges operate on their own land in this area (and extract premium prices). Singita and Londolozi are accessed through the same gate.k2c Sabi Sand west map
