Grace & style
A charming and historic camp promising the leisurely pace of yesteryear, the original homestead of Harry Kirkman has been restored to explorer-era glory. The lawn with warthog grazing rather than a neatly dressed party playing croquet does nothing to dispel this illusion.

Tranquil oasis
Located high on a ridge, beautifully manicured gardens overlook the Sand River like a stylish matriarch gazing down upon the landscape.

Excellent river access
Kirkmans Camp has a substantial Sand river frontage, and its land extends down towards the Sabie river. This it can access by a joint traverse with Lion Sands on the Sabi Sand side of the river. It also has traversing rights over the southern one-third of MalaMala’s land and is the only other lodge with this ability, giving it most theoretical river access of them all.

Exclusive traversing
Traversing is exclusive and very game-rich due to the perennial concentration of water.

Bush walks
Bush walks are available every morning after drives. As well as giving you the chance to examine the smaller things, your armed ranger may be able to track and approach Big FIve on foot.

Luxurious suites
Eighteen charming suites with green tin roofs overlook the bushveld, grounds and swimming pool, with views of the unspoiled landscape surrounding the Sand River.

Verandah views
Private verandas attached to each suite offer a secluded spot to drink in the breathtaking views. Old-fashioned bedsteads and generous claw-foot bathtubs complete the picture, while stand-alone showers in each room provide an up-to-date touch.

Afternoon tea
Enjoy the ritual of afternoon tea served on the spacious veranda or rolling lawn, perhaps in the company of a wild but friendly visitor or two. There is a tennis court with equipment to borrow.

Touches of history
Gracious style abounds but the landscape beyond is never forgotten. Wander through spacious guest areas and admire mementos of a time gone by. Clean lines and authentic furniture transport you to the 1920s.

Understated comfort
Creature comfort is never compromised. Indulge in private time in the fascinating library or while away a few hours in front of the roaring fireplace in the guest sitting room. Spend leisure hours by the large pool admiring the bush landscape and wildlife in the valley below.

WILDchild programme
With its expansive spaces to play, and WILDchild programme, Kirkmans is ideal for kids. Family suites are available.
Photographic safaris
Specialist safaris offer guides with extensive experience of wildlife, birding and landscape photography. Combining an understanding of animal behaviour with photography skills, they advise on shutter speed, lenses, filters, angles, lighting and much more.
