
Family friendly lodges
Kambaku was created as a unique family orientated lodge, which has quickly become two. Safari Lodge is designed with young children in mind. River Sands Lodge is for families with older children. The owners are resident and bringing their own children up in the bush.

Visiting megafauna
Timbavati enjoys great biodiversity in flora and fauna and is particularly known for its mega herds of buffalo in the dry season. The famed white lions are a local special.

Generous traversing
Kambaku enjoys traversing over 12,000 hectares (1,000 of which is exclusive) of both Timbavati and Klaserie reserves, both unfenced with the Kruger, which can be enjoyed on an open vehicle or on foot.

Lookout hide
There is a hide at Twins Dam which is particularly good for birdlife.

Safari lodge
Safari Lodge is simple, designed with affordability in mind. Fully fenced, it sleeps 16. Eight rooms offer four-poster beds draped with elegant white mosquito nets, overhead fans and en-suite bathrooms with separate shower and bath. Each has a private verandah.

Basic family comfort
Children of any age are welcome at Safari Lodge. Those aged 12 and older can participate in walks. Four year olds and under can participate in private drives. Cots and babysitting are available, as is a toy box to share.

Safari Lodge facilities
There is a a swimming pool, pool table, childrens’ area, library, and Kambaku Kids programme.

River Sands
By contrast, River Sands is unfenced. It is a luxurious thatched lodge set on the banks of a seasonal river. Children under 12 are not permitted here. The large game viewing deck overlooks a waterhole and the riverbed.

Grown-up suites
There are ten spacious suites equipped with air conditioning, a mini bar, butler’s tray, en-suite bathroom with spa bath, indoor double shower and outdoor shower.

River Sands facilities
The central lodge has large fireplaces, open sky boma, wrap-around bar, infinity pool and wine cellar, all overlooking the waterhole. Play chess in the wine cellar, have a cocktail watching elephants drink from the pool, work out in the gym.

Riverbed dining
Dinners are under the stars in the boma, on the riverbed or out in the bush.

Sauna & steam
There is a spa which unusually includes sauna and steam room.

Game visitors
Unfenced, River Sands enjoys a stream of game, with regular visits from elephant, buffalo, hyena, warthog and bushbuck.
