Savannah surroundings
Billy’s is a premium lodge located on the banks of a seasonal river surrounded by the knobthorn, leadwood and marula trees characteristic of the western savannah. The concession name, Ezulwini, means ‘paradise’ in Zulu.
Big Five
Balule is a constellation of private properties that form a large wilderness area unfenced with the Kruger. Game roams freely throughout, and includes a good density of the Big Five animals.
Resident pride of lions.
There is a resident lion pride around Billy’s Lodge.
Year-round game
The lush indigenous bush looks up to the Drakensberg mountains, and traversing includes open savannah, mixed woodland, mountain bushveld as well as Olifants riverine forest with year-round game.
Spacious suites
Four spacious luxury suites sleep a maximum of 12 people. Inside, each has a super king-size bed, dining area, en-suite bath, shower, lounge, mini-bar, and fridge. Outside is an additional shower, private plunge pool, and a deck with unspoiled views of the surrounding bush.
Standard value rooms
There are also three standard rooms: 2 traditional rondavels, and 1 thatched room that leads onto the pool area. Each room sleeps 2 people in twin or double beds with mosquito netting and bedside tables. En-suite bathrooms are dark-tiled with showers and large vanity fittings.
Wine cave
Billy’s Lodge is set against a natural rock face to resemble an ancient Bushman cave. Design is organic and African in inspiration. There is a good collection of wine.
