SISTER LODGE: Large 15,000 Hectare private Kruger concession in an excellent position with abundant grassland savannah and river systems. Great walking opportunities including full day trails

Idube sits in the middle of the north-western Sabi Sand, a prized Kruger area. It lets its prime, game-rich location do the talking.

Idube pool area

Accommodation is simple and well-equipped, consisting of with thatched roofs, plus two more with their own private plunge pools. Clean and comfortable, the facilities are less luxurious than some more expensive neighbouring Lodges, but the is indubitably less challenging. There is air-conditioning and free wifi.

Eight comfortable en-suite "Safari" chalets are set amongst green lawns and shady trees. Attractively draped mosquito nets give a touch of safari romance. Bathrooms have double vanity basins, bath, toilet and shower and are finished in attractive natural colours and textures. There is a separate outside shower. All chalets have air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, and tea/coffee making facilities. Each chalet has its own private deck furnished with large comfortable chairs.

The two premium Makubela suites are set aside from the rest of the camp and completely surrounded by the bush. Each suite is larger and additionally has a separate entrance hall, lounge and mini-bar. These suites open out on two sides to a large wooden patio with your own private pool set into it. Dinner can be served at your suite and the suites can be made interleading for groups.

An unquestionable highlight at Idube is bird and game watching from the underground hide at Shiduli Dam. This is an unusual, mind-expanding experience, particularly for photographers.

Lunch is served on the lawn or at the deck, whilst dinners are in the boma or, a particular treat, out in the bush lit by lanterns and stars.

Have a look at Rob the Ranger's video channel on YouTube and you will get a feel for the infectious enthusiasm of the staff, and density and diversity of Big Five sightings at Idube.

Great mix of outstanding location for game, extremely good Guiding and value for money

Highly recommended for photographers

  • Particularly recommended for photographers for the excellent hide, enthusiastic and expert photographic Guides, superb location for game, and good value to enable a longer stay
  • High standard of Guiding - look at Rob the Ranger's YouTube channel (or watch the showreel below) to get an idea
  • Worth combining with its more luxuriously appointed sister Kruger concession lodge, Lukimbi, when special offers combine the two to give an excellent contrast in style and location both within the south of the Park

Don't miss

  • Shiduli Dam and photographic hide
